For Authors

We welcome all genres as long as they center on Jewish life and/or Israel.  We are an umbrella-platform that highlights a wide range of genres — from fiction and memoirs to business, history, poetry, and beyond. You can see a list of acceptable genres on the Authors page.

Note: Any work that refers to or implies the “Zionist occupation” will not be accepted.

For a variety of reasons, some reviewers prefer print copies, so we recommend that you have at least 2 (two) copies readily available. These may be sent by any print-on-demand service or by a reliable delivery service. We do not recommend using the USPS or Israel Post unless tracking is provided.

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast

Once you nterview will receive a link to book a day and time. Our interviews will appear on YouTube and will be used to generate more attention for you via shorts and reels on social media platforms.

We do not offer distribution services, but can guide you. To start off, we recommend that you list your book with Ingram (or Ingram Spark for self-published authors),  the largest book wholesaler in the US. We also suggest that you or your publisher list your book on Bookshop.org, which reaches independent bookstores around the world.

General/Shared

Yes. Authors are welcome to suggest reviewers they’d like to work with. While we can’t always guarantee availability or interest, we’re happy to reach out and explore the possibility. Feel free to contact us at info@thebookshuk.com.

The Book Shuk commissions a small team of professional writers to produce selected reviews and feature articles, and these contributors receive a modest payment for their work.

We also welcome reviews from other writers and book lovers who want to share their voices. While independent submissions are unpaid, reviewers receive free digital copies of books and recognition on our site. They also receive invitations to exclusive virtual events with the authors and professionals in the publishing industry. In the near future, we will also offer Book Shuk merch as a token of our appreciation.

Yes! Thoughtful conversation is welcome. Readers, authors, and community members are invited to engage respectfully in the comments.

Our readers include passionate book lovers, reviewers, booksellers, librarians, educators, college students, and media professionals who share an interest in Jewish and Israel-related books.

Those who review works voluntarily are welcome to post their honest, authentic reviews on these review sites. Note that these reviews will not appear as a “verified purchase” on Amazon.

For Reviewers

We welcome anyone who loves to read, supports Jewish literature, and wants to share their thoughts about books. Our reviewer community includes educators, university students, journalists, librarians, community leaders, and passionate readers from around the world.

As part of our shared mission to support authors, reviewers commit to posting at least one honest review on The Book Shuk and on one other platform, such as Amazon, Goodreads, or their own social media. Beyond that, reviewers are encouraged to share their thoughts anywhere they connect with readers.

A typical written review is 200–600 words and should focus on your honest impressions of the book — what you loved, learned, or found thought-provoking. In general, reviews should convey the value that readers will gain from reading the book.

For social media posts, carousels and reels, we advise you to stay within the conventions of each platform, and those that match your brand.

Any format you like! Reviews can be written pieces, blog posts, videos, Reels, or even podcast discussions — wherever you naturally create and share your work.

Reviewers are expected to read and submit their review within one month of receiving the book.

Reviews can be shared on The Book Shuk, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), personal blogs, newsletters, Goodreads, or other book-related sites.

Books are sent in PDF format. If a reviewer prefers a print copy, we will do our best to accommodate that request. We ask that every author have 2 print copies readily-available for this purpose.
